18th GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF IOTA HELD IN BELGRADE

The 18th General Assembly was held on 3 and 4 July 2014 in Belgrade, organised by and under the Presidency of the Serbian Tax Administration. It was attended by 176 delagates from Member Tax Administrations, officials of the Serbian Government, European Union, OECD, IMF, as well as by representatives of other international organisations, researchers and guests (China, Federation of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Guatemala).

The theme at this year`s Assembly was „Be there on time - Best impact with right timing: engaging taxpayers and using information, data and interventions to influence compliance behaviour“. Technical sessions provided opportunity to examine effective approaches in reducing tax gap, strenghtening cooperation between Tax Administration and taxpayers, introduction of e-services and development of systems for e-exchange of information.

The Memebrs decided that the DutchTax Administration, under leadership of Director Deneral, Mr Peter Veld, will hold the 2014/2015 IOTA Presidency. The Executive Council of IOTA and Internal Auditors were elected for the term 2014/2015. The Members also adopted the Budget and Work Programme for 2015.

The professional Theme of the 18th General Assembly, to be held in 2014 in Belgrade, will be: „Self-Service for Tax Compliance“.

Participants of the General Assembly recognised the important role that IOTA has in promoting co-operation and sharing knowledge and best practice between memeber Tax Administrations, particularly during the economic crises when public resources are limited.

Representatives of the Tax Administration of Montenegro gave their contribution to success of this most important annual event of IOTA.
